More Exposure Means More Traffic: Get Your Content Out There

May 22nd, 2012

Beginning early this year, certain search engine made some changes to their search ranking,   in the name of providing more relevant search results for it’s users, google engineers published blog post which indicated there were 11.8% organic search results will be affected, put it this way, almost 12% of google search results are useless or of low quality. Google started this change almost one year ago, and recently I see some of my ranks were lowered considerably, but almost all the ranks promoted by articles and blog posts were not affected, and a few of them even gained a few positions, it’s obvious that link building the old way is the thing of past, probably due to link spamming sites being thrown away by google.

Now what on earth is plain link building and how do people do it? a lot of marketing companies did and are doing the plain link building, they will get links from any websites which accept adding links, these websites will only be updated when new links are being added, almost all of them are garbage, the name of link spamming sites is justified. Now google algorithm probably will weed out these sites, all the links on those websites will have the same fate.

Examples will be great for explanation. In the very beginning, I didn’t know better, I started promote the keyword, Chain Hoists, it was old way of link building all the way, almost all the sites I got link from had too many links, and the worst thing is that those sites are linking sites only and had no content, not even crap content. In the beginning, the ranking of the keyword in question rise pretty fast, lately the keyword link stayed on the first page for a while, this was the case until google made the change. Here is another keyword, chain puller , we promoted this keyword with articles and blog posts, not too many plain links have been built, you can imagine how this keyword ranks. So contextual link wins this time, what about future? It all boils down to content, when you create unique and quality content, your rank will improve over time, since search engines are another kind of readers. How do you do it? Writing articles and building blogs, for instance let’s examine this one, best smartphones 2011 , in the beginning I just post to it casually, lately I added nice stuff left and right, it’s no way this site will rank, right?, actually, no, much to my surprise that the site actually ranks for quite a few keywords. As we can see, article marketing with great content is the way to go. Say you’re building your own bogging network, something like Tow Chains, then it will be easier to do article marketing.

Remember content is king, you just need to create content, get people to enjoy and share your stuff, in the mean time advertise your business with your content, as long as you don’t stop doing this, you will win over customers and search engines. Persistence and patience are the keys to success, long term strategy is required to improve anything of significance, be it your business or search rankings, keep doing what we have to do till the end of world. When publisinh articles, I prefer ezine, new article will be indexed within an hour if not minutes, popular blogs will get your post indexed as soon as you post it, let look at some aticles or posts which are published and indexed, like this Traffic Cones , good writing, interesting content, indexed and cached, this article serves it’s purpose well.

We’re not finished yet, please remeber, the social media is the must have channel for your marketing effort. The Twitter tools is a wordpress plugin, you can install it, get a twitter account and API keys, configure your twitter tools prpperly, then make sure every new post will post a new tweet, it’s easy and really useful, if you don’t use this tool it’s just too bad.
