The other day I got a second hand Dodge RAM and I wanted to move a lot things around with it. I simply have to say that the trunk is just like a trash can , you probably will see every type of trash like stuff in it, sometimes I believe I am just a hoarder! In the beginning I believed that I could pack them well, in the middle of stacking I was totally lost. When the trunk is full I just stared at the mess I created, said to myself, I just did that? OK, I actually did that. I said to myself that there was no way I could go ahead like this, if I did there would be possible consequences like these: you could imagine the whole mess would collapse onto the road and might cause accident, or before anything could happen I would be stopped by a police officer and get ticketed.
I still needed to go ahead, I could start over and try to tidy them up and tie them down or simply find something to hold them together, OK, even I start over I still will have to find something to secure the load, these choices actually mean one thing, I need some cargo control stuff for my pick up. Do I need heavy duty tie downs such as ten thousand pounds ratcheting straps or grade 70 tie down chains? Definitely no.
At first I was totally lost because there so many tie downs, but when I narrow down my search to pick up truck I was able to find something useful, first I came across 1” ratchet straps, 6 or 9 feet, but with 2000 or 3000lb strength they were overkill in a sense, though there were not expensive at all, cam buckle tie downs were not better in this sense, all I could see was something too much in strength, too little in real world use, I don’t think the ratchet straps could improve my situation there, 1” straps weren’t helpful here. Besides, 1” ratchet straps won’t be able to hold a lot small pieces together at all. Then I ran into this gem: cargo net for pick ups, the size is 48”x60” which is ideal for my truck, To use cargo nets is pretty simple, just cover the pile with cargo net, hook the hooks on the cargo net on the truck, that’s it. Of course when we’re talking about cargo net we have to mention bungee cord , actually the cargo net are made of connected bungee cords. To say the least, both cargo net and bungee cord are commercial tie downs compare to industrial tie downs, which means they are light duty and small in size, and they are mostly being used to hold small stuff. And these nets and cords are perfect cargo control stuff for cars, small trucks and small vans, you will be able get good deals all over the place. Now the nets and cords aside, don’t the forget the cargo bar which is made for pick up truck, people use these bars to divide trunk, stop stuff from shifting, for the record, any one could use a cargo bar!
