Rank algorithm update from google weeded out a lot of good or bad websites, the reason cited is that google wanted to provide more relevant results, google engineers published blog post which indicated there were 11.8% organic search results will be affected, say it another way, google thinks about 12% of it’s search results are really bad and need to manipulated. Google started this change almost one year ago, no wonder I saw a few of my keywords’ ranks dropped like a rock, on the other hand almost all keywords promoted by contextual links are not affected, a few of these keywords ranked better than ever, it’s obvious that linking campaign the old way is the thing of past, probably due to link spamming sites being thrown away by google.
Now what on earth is plain link building and how do people do it? There are a lot of SEO company out there are doing this, they put your links on websites which only exist for holding links, the only updates on those websites are the new links, it’s safe to assume all of them are trash, the name of link spamming sites is justified. The latest google update will definitely downgrade most if not all of these sites, any links on them will be affected too.
Maybe a few examples will make it clear. It was quite some time ago, I started with this keyword, Tow Chains, at that time almost every body was doing plain linking campaign, lately I figured that every site in the campaign had way too many links, and those sites had only links, no real content at all. In the beginning, the ranking of the keyword in question rise pretty fast, eventually the keyword could be found on first page, the party was over when google updated it’s algorithm. Something opposite happened to this keyword, chain pullers, we promoted this keyword with articles and blog posts, not too many plain links have been built, the rank for this keyword is making me real happy. Old and outdated linking campaign lost to content linking, what’s next? In fact the only thing matters here is content, so if you create great content, not only people will love to read your stuff, so do the search engines. How do you do it? Writing articles and building blogs, such as this interesting blog, sue havens toy , I didn’t put too much effort into it from start, but I never stopped posting, and to my surprise, I have high ranks for some of competitive keywords. As we can see, quality blog marketing is much better than plain link building. If you can build a group of your own blogs, something like Binder Chains, then it will be easier to do article marketing.
Remember content is king, you just need to create content, get people to enjoy and share your stuff, promote your business with the content, as long as you don’t stop doing this, you will win over customers and search engines. Persistence and patience are the keys to success, nothing will automatically improve overnight, i.e., selling online or improve your search rankings, now all we have to do is to share our love for creating and sharing quality content and not to worry about the ranking all the time. When publisinh articles, I prefer ezine, google will index a new article on ezine promptly, popular blogs will get your post indexed as soon as you post it, let look at some aticles or posts which are published and indexed, for instance, Ratchet Binder , nice writing, good content, published on popular site, this article serves it’s purpose well.

For wordpress blogs, I recommend twitter tools, then go ahead register a new twitter account and app, link your blog to twitter, you should choose to post a tweet for every new post, it’s real easy and useful, no one should miss this tool out.
